What is a Docent?

A docent is a teacher.
The word "docent" comes from the Latin word "docere" which means teacher or educator.

What does a Docent do?

Docents provide educational experiences through presentations and exhibit interpretation with live animals and other materials.

How do you become a Docent?

Complete our 36 hour training program.
Commit to volunteer more than 60 hours each year.

TRAINING DATES

Training sessions meeting Thursday evenings with several weekend sessions. You may only miss one session.
