ZOO MANAGEMENT STAFF

Brad Fichter
Brad Fichter has been with Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden since 1996. He has been the Animal Curator since 2005 and his duties at the Zoo include supervision of the Animal Department. He was a zookeeper at MPZ for over 9 years before becoming Animal Curator. He is a member of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA) and has attended AZA’s Professional Development and Organizational Development Management Courses. Brad has a Bachelors degree in Biology from the University of Southern Indiana. He is an avid Scuba diver, having made numerous trips to the Caribbean and a serious Indianapolis Colts fan.

Stephanie Sanderson
Stephanie Sanderson has been with Mesker Park Zoo for more than eight years and currently serves as the Visitor Services Curator. She is responsible for hiring, training and supervising guest services staff and oversees the operation of admissions, revenue centers, rentals & attractions, birthday parties, membership sales, group & corporate sales and special events. Stephanie also serves as a liaison for contractual vendors such as concessions, gift shop and janitorial services and serves on the zoo’s safety committee. 

Stephanie graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, with a degree in Public Affairs, concentrating in Environmental Science & Management. She is a member of AZA and has attended a variety of conferences, seminars and AZA Management School over the years, as well as serving on the Solid Waste District’s Citizens Advisory Committee. In her personal life, Stephanie is a proud mother of three boys and also enjoys gardening, traveling and her four legged friends.

Charlotte Roesner
Charlotte Roesner has been with Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden since 2003. She is the Marketing Director and her duties at the Zoo include public relations, advertising, promotions, coordinating website, quarterly newsletter, and Trail Guide production, as well as aiding in development efforts. She is a member of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA) and has attended AZA’s Professional Development and Organizational Development Management Courses. Roesner has a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Purdue University, specializing in Destination Marketing. Prior to working at the Zoo, Roesner was the Executive Director for the Dubois County Tourism Commission, and served as marketing coordinator for the Southern Indiana Regional Marketing Cooperative   

Diana Barber
Diana Barber has been with Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden since 2000. She is the Education Curator and her duties at the Zoo include managing the zoo’s education programs, directing summer camp, coordinating the zoo’s education volunteers (Docents and ZooTeens), overseeing the zoo’s research and internship programs, and creating the zoo’s interpretive and identification signs. She is a member of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA) and has attended AZA’s Professional Development and Organizational Development Management Courses. Barber has a degree in Psychology from Dartmouth College and Ph.D. in biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, specializing in the evolution and behavior of mammals (specifically bats). In addition to working at the zoo, Barber teaches a class in environmental conservation at the University of Southern Indiana.

David Voegel
David Voegel has been with Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden since June of 2005. He is the Operations Curator and his duties at the Zoo include scheduling and overseeing routine and preventative maintenance of exhibits and infrastructure, upgrades of exhibits, and construction of some of the new exhibits. He is a member of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA) and has attended AZA’s Professional Development Management Course and specialty courses in many maintenance fields. Voegel has a degree in Agriculture and Animal Sciences from Purdue University. Prior to working at the Zoo, David was with the Evansville Housing Authority for 10 years. During this time, he held many positions including Trainer/Coordinator, Foreman and Maintenance Supervisor. For the last six months, he performed the duties of Scattered Site Property Manager.

Dana Duke
Dana Duke has been with Mesker Park Zoo and Botanical Garden since 1999. She has been the Registrar since Nov. 2007 and her duties include managing the animal collection records. She was a zookeeper for over 8 years, working mostly with the big cats, before becoming the Registrar. She is a member of the Zoological Registrar's Association and the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA) and has attended AZA's professional training program in Institutional Recording Keeping. Dana has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Southern Indiana. In her personal life, Dana enjoys working with Chinese Shar pei rescue, gardening, traveling, and spending time at Barkley Lake with her husband and dogs.

FRIENDS OF MESKER PARK ZOO

Rebecca T. Kasha
Rebecca (Becky) Kasha is a partner in the law firm of Kinney, Kasha, Buthod, LLP.  Becky served on the citizen’s advisory committee charged with studying the situation at Mesker Park Zoo in 1999, and making recommendations for its future.  Becky then served as a member of the Evansville Zoo Guild, which eventually merged into the Friends of Mesker Park Zoo.  She also serves as President of the Zoo Advisory Board.  Becky is a past president of the Evansville Bar Association and sits on the Board of the Evansville Bar Foundation.  She is active at Christ the King Catholic Church, coaches volleyball, and dotes on her two-legged and four-legged children.

Cheryl Steinbacher
Cheryl Steinbacher, SPHR has over twenty years experience in human resources, training, and organizational and leadership development.  She received her B.S. in Human Resources Development from the University of Tennessee and M.Ed. in Human Resources & Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University.  Cheryl has experience in high technology, manufacturing, services, and banking and is currently Integra Bank’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Leadership Development.  She is responsible for the management and coordination of Integra’s human resources policies and programs including compensation and benefits, employee relations, organizational development, executive and staff training, and leadership development.  Prior to Integra she was employed with Elo TouchSystems, NOVA Information Systems, and Dalen Products in Knoxville, Tennessee.  Cheryl serves on the board of directors for Leadership Evansville and Friends of Mesker Park Zoo in Evansville, Indiana, and Historic Rugby, Inc. in Rugby, Tennessee.

Susan Wedeking
Susan Wedeking is associate director of Corporate & Business Communications at Mead Johnson Nutritionals. A native of Evansville, Susan holds a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Southern Indiana. In addition to serving on the Friends of the Zoo board, Susan is also a member of the Evansville Port Authority Board, the Evansville Celebration of Diversity's Board of Directors, and is involved in many Leadership Evansville activities.   

Royce Haws
I am the Location Manager for Alcoa Warrick Operations Primary Metals in Warrick County.  I have been Location Manager for 5 years.  I have been with Alcoa for over 30 years and have been at 7 different locations including 4 years in Brazil.  I graduated from The University of Texas in Industrial Engineering.  I have been on the Friends Board for 9 months but have been taking my children to the Zoo for years.  I have done a lot of things with my children over the past few years including coaching soccer, basketball, teaching Sunday school, and lots of delivery to music lessons.
