National Zookeeper Week & Zoo Bingo (July 21-26)
Zookeepers work everyday to provide the best animal care possible to the over 700 residents at your zoo. Come celebrate this fascinating profession and learn some interesting information about some of your favorite animals during. Zookeeper Chats are scheduled at 10:30 am and 2 pm Tuesday – Friday* and various times throughout Family Fun Day.
*Something to keep in mind: The animals come first, if something comes up and an animal requires the attention of the Zookeeper, the chat schedule may change.
An extra does of fun: Play Zoo Bingo July 21 -29th
Play Zoo Bingo July 21 -29th! Just print off the below Zoo Bingo card and bring it with you when you visit. Mark off the boxes as you complete them and once you have a Zoo Bingo, turn your card in at the Wild Rivers Trading Co. Gift Shop. One lucky Zoo Bingo player will win a giant stuffed animal!
Zoo Bingo is played on the “honor system” - We just want you to have a great time playing along!
Family Fun Day (July 26, 2014)
This action-packed day kicks off with the Dash for Donna 5K and One-Mile Fun Walk and the fun continues all day with live entertainment, art projects, animal encounters, inflatables, games and more.
Family Fun Day Schedule (subject to change)
9 am – 3 pm: Bounce House hosted by Pump It Up (Entry Plaza)
10 am – 3 pm: Activities hosted by Education Department (Lower Kley & Lions Plaza)
10: 15 am: Zookeeper Talk: Peacocks (Hosted by Shannon: Location TBD)
10:30 am: Performance by Riverbend (Children’s Enchanted Forest)
11 am: Zookeeper Talk: Takin (Hosted by Matt: Location Asia Pathway/Takin Alcove)
11 am – 1 pm: Meet a Keeper (Discovery Center)
11:15 am – Performance by Kyilindi Pipe & Drum Corp (Front Entry)
11:30 am – 3:30 pm: Music by Byron Rhorig (Entry Plaza)
12:30 pm & 1:45 pm: Storytellin’ with Barbara Klamer (Children’s Enchanted Forest)
1:30 pm: Zookeeper Talk: Creatures of the Night/Nocturnal (Hosted by Sarah: Kley Building Nocturnal)
2 pm: Zookeeper Talk: Jaguar (Hosted by Jackie: Amazonia)
Dash for Donna 5K and One-Mile Fun Walk (July 26, 2014)
This 5K and One-Mile Fun Walk is wildly popular because of the unique course – the beautiful and hilly terrain at the zoo! The 5K competitors will have their time recorded via chip timers and awards will be given to the top three finishers in each category. The One-Mile Fun Walk is something all ages and fitness levels will enjoy.

Wildfire & Wine (September 26, 2014)
An exciting new evening event showcasing the best of our zoo. Don’t miss this unique event as we explore the zoo by firelight, sample wine and enjoy the ambiance of Lake Victoria.
Boo at the Zoo (October 17-19 & 24-26, 2014)
Annual Halloween event featuring fall decor, haunted houses, live entertainment and more on select nights in October. An event for everyone in the family to dress in costume and enjoy a fun evening.
Breakfast at the Zoo with Santa and Mrs. Claus (December 6-7, 2014)
Enjoy a hot buffet breakfast with Santa & Mrs. Claus in the Rainforest Grill. Children will receive treats and make a special holiday craft. Guests will also enjoy up close & personal animal visits in AMAZONIA.
