Make the Dive!
Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden is a beloved and important element in our community. We are seeing spectacular growth and transformation in the Zoo’s 90 year history. The Zoo’s modern habitats take into account every aspect of an animal’s health and well-being, and allow guests to connect to the natural world through education, science, conservation – and fun.
Now, we are ready to launch the next phase of growth for the Zoo with a dynamic new animal habitat. Penguins of Patagonia will surely generate excitement for people of all ages. Guided by the 2012 feasibility plan, Penguins of Patagonia is a private-public partnership, with the City of Evansville already committing approximately one-half of the project’s $6.1 million cost. You can help by joining this campaign to bring the innovative Penguins of Patagonia to Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden, and together we will:
- Design a naturalistic environment for Humboldt penguins with distinctive habitat features to promote a range of penguin behaviors.
- Expand and enliven the Zoo’s Entry Plaza and South American exhibits, providing an up-close and engaging animal experience for an estimated 240,000 guests annually.
- Encourage meaningful personal connections with our natural world for people to cultivate stewardship of all ages and preservation of our Earth’s diverse species and living systems.
We know the community is important to you and thank you for making the dive to support this exciting and significant habitat at Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden.
