The Penguins are Coming!
The Kinney Family Penguins of Patagonia is currently under construction and will be complete in Summer 2021, where approximately 20 Humboldt penguins will be introduced into their new habitat. Penguins of Patagonia will be an immersive habitat where guests will be able to explore the cultural and educational components of the habitat while observing the penguins from three key viewing areas:
- Main Viewing Area where guests can observe a variety of penguin behaviors on land as well as in the water.
- Deep Pool View that will offer guests views of penguins taking underwater runs, porpoising, playing in the waves created by bubblers, or waddling across the land bridge.
- Underwater Viewing Area where the water level will reach up to six feet above grade in the underwater view, providing guests a broad expanse for viewing the incredible swimming maneuvers of the penguins.
Guests will also be able to go nose to bill with the ultimate penguin encounter! A penguin encounter area will allow Zoo guests to get up close with a penguin for a personal feeding and educational experience.
